Mitsubishi Electric Trane HVAC US (METUS), a leading supplier of all-electric, all-climate Ductless and Ducted Mini-split and Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) heat pump and air-conditioning systems, has announced its new commercial VRF product line, which uses a low-global warming potential (GWP) refrigerant. Developed in anticipation of evolving refrigerant regulations across the industry, the new products will be available in selected markets in early 2026.

This new line will utilize R-32 refrigerant, a next-generation refrigerant with a low GWP. Starting Jan. 1, 2026, low-GWP, A2L refrigerants such as R-32 will be the new industry standard for Variable Refrigerant Flow (VRF) systems.

“As the HVAC industry navigates this important refrigerant transition, we are committed to helping building owners, engineers, contractors, and facility managers embrace more sustainable technologies without compromising performance,” said David Archer, Vice President of Commercial Business, METUS. “R-32 offers a balance of efficiency and reduced environmental impact, playing a critical role in the industry’s shift to lower-GWP refrigerants.”

In addition to adopting R-32 refrigerant, METUS’s new commercial VRF solutions are designed with a host of enhancements in efficiency, serviceability, reliability, and overall comfort. The systems feature built-in sensors capable of detecting refrigerant leaks in indoor units.
