Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), the National Standards Body of India functioning under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, Government of India, organised a ‘Manak Manthan’ – a stakeholder discussion on the Draft Indian Standard ‘Wrought Copper Tubes for Refrigeration and Air-Conditioning Purposes – Specification (Second Revision of IS 10773)’. The programme was held at the Thirumudivakkam Industrial Estate Manufacturers Association (TIEMA), Chennai.

Programme Objectives for the event were laid by S. D. Dayanand, Scientist–F / Senior Director & Head, BIS Chennai Branch Office, highlighting the importance of having inputs of industries from the Districts of Chennai, Tiruvallur and Kancheepuram on Indian Standards pertinent to automotive component manufacturing for air-conditioning as well as appliances manufacturing for air conditioning and refrigeration industry. He emphasised that stakeholder participation is essential in developing standards that meet consumer needs while ensuring safety, performance and sustainability.

On the occasion of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas (National Unity Day), observed on 31st October 2025, S. D. Dayanand, Scientist–F / Senior Director & Head, BIS Chennai Branch Office, administered the Rashtriya Ekta Diwas Pledge to all participants, reaffirming the commitment to national unity and integrity.
