Clean Heat Europe advocates for affordable, accessible, and climate friendly heat for households across Europe...

On May 14, almost 20 companies met in Brussels to unveil their manifesto, calling on policymakers to support the business case for clean heat. This was done at the inaugural meeting of Clean Heat Europe’s Industry Group, in the presence of several representatives from the European Commission.

The Industry Group’s manifesto outlines a way to replace fossil fuels with clean heating and cooling solutions and seize this opportunity to strengthen energy security and geopolitical resilience, bring down the cost of heating, and contribute substantially to meeting their climate targets. To do so, the Industry Group calls on policymakers to urgently strengthen the business case for clean heat, make clean heat affordable for all Europeans, and to ensure a stable regulation. The undersigned are industrial leaders in solutions such as heat pumps, district heating and direct solar thermal, sharing a commitment to clean heat deployment.

Describing their view, Joel Boehme – Campaign Manager, Clean Heat Europe, said, “Heating and cooling make up around half of Europe’s energy consumption, and 70% of that energy still comes from fossil fuels. By strengthening the clean heat business case in Europe, the EU can bring down the cost for clean heating, and by maintaining a stable, supportive regulatory environment, Europe can safeguard its industrial leadership in this critical sector.”
