Carrier has expanded its flagship AquaForce 30XW(H)VZE range of variable-speed screw chillers and heat pumps with lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) refrigerants to meet the requirements of larger projects up to 1600kW.

The previous range, spanning capacities from 450kW to 1310kW, has been extended with the addition of two new models, delivering cooling
capacities up to 1635kW and heating capacities up to 1930kW, both available on A1-rated R-515B and PUREtec™ refrigerant R-1234ze(E) for long-term low environmental impact.

The new units are optimised for demanding applications, such as data centre cooling and industrial applications, and feature an improved compressor design with a liquid-cooled motor for enhanced temperature management.

Equipped with high-performance Variable Frequency Drives (VFD), the chillers offer precise load matching for increased seasonal efficiency and energy savings when operating at part-load conditions, delivering a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio (SEER) of up to 8.6 at 12/7°C, and Seasonal Coefficient of Performance (SCOP) up to 5.3 at 47/55°C.

A new wider operating envelope enables production of hot water up to 60°C, making them suitable for use in heating decarbonisation projects as well as larger cooling applications.

“These latest additions to the range are designed to meet the needs of larger projects requiring reliable, high efficiency cooling and heating, while delivering excellent environmental performance and safety,” said Jérémie Chang, Carrier HVAC EU Product Manager.

Quiet operation is ensured with the use of enhanced acoustic damping, with double Integrated Resonator Arrays (IRA) fitted on compressors as standard to reduce noise from the discharge line.

For contractors, the chillers are designed to be quick and easy to install, with simplified electrical and water connections and fast commissioning.
