VULKAN Lokring is a company that belongs to the VULKAN Group, which is a medium-sized family-owned enterprise for technical and industrial applications. As a developer of the LOKRING technology, VULKAN Lokring is quite well-known in the field of solder-free and non-detachable tube joints. Since 1979, the company has been developing, manufacturing and marketing mechanical tube joining systems for refrigerant lines.
Background
The Hydrama Grand Hotel is located in the city of Drama in the North of Greece, about 147 kilometers from Thessaloniki. As most of the Greek cities, Drama is a town with a long history. There, an old tobacco factory from 1924 has been rebuilt into a luxury 5-star hotel using 7,500m2 area.
In that historic building of the Hydrama Hotel, VULKAN Lokring Technology has been used for the installation of the central air conditioning. The building, in which the hotel has emerged, has partial wooden constructions.
Selection process
It was a great competition in deciding who will get the contract to make the installation for this extensive remodeling project. Finally the company Choursoulidis was the winner. The decisive factor was the decision that Choursoulidis had proposed the use of LOKRING for the connection of tubes. Due to the special wood construction of the building the solder-free LOKRING Technology was the best solution.
The application
A total of 5,000 metres of tubes have been used and more than 2,500 LOKRING connections have been installed for the VRF-air conditioning system with 63 inside and 19 outside units.
The result
According to Choursoulidis Ahileas, the President of the company, all expectations were exceeded. It was a 100% success and no leakage was found anywhere.
About Lokring connections
VULKAN Lokring nowadays provides customised solutions for tube connections in the fields of the manufacturing, installation and servicing of refrigeration and air conditioning technology. About 650 unique types of Lorking connectors are used at present by customers in order to optimally join tubes made of different materials and combinations of diameters.
