We are passing through such a situation when it is really difficult to predict the scene even after next one month. Of late, apparently there is a decline in active caseload, however, 40 cases of Delta Plus variant of CORONA virus have already been reported in Maharashtra, which is the most badly affected state of India as far as the COVID-19 pandemic is concerned. In such circumstances, the best way to be safe is to follow the rules of lockdown. Naturally, when all family members are inside their home, proper maintenance of Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) is the top priority. The same is true for the people on essential duties inside offices. Because of lockdown, the practice of shopping online has increased in an unprecedented way, which is being supported by big godowns or warehouses, where too, maintenance of IAQ has been absolutely essential. Thus, more than profitability, now the responsibility of the HVAC industry has been manifold.

Particularly, drawing attention on the ongoing spread of the new strain of the Delta variant of the CORONA virus, which is also known as the Delta Plus variant or the AY.1 variant or by its technical name B.1.617.2.1 or AY.1 – and is characterised by the acquisition of K417N mutation, I feel we need to exercise much more stringent caution on raising and maintaining the IAQ.

I find it quite praiseworthy that our industry is showing an impressive advancement in mitigating the CORONA virus menace through launching advanced products that can at least create a safe environment inside an enclosed space. Thus, in this June issue of Cooling India, we have attempted to cover almost all directions in which our HVAC industry has been relentlessly working to mitigate the attack of the dreadful virus, which has been mutating very often. So far, our industry has been delivering devices based on four technologies, namely: fixed filter, portable filter, ultra violet ray and ionization, which have been scientifically established to inactivate the deadly virus.

I firmly believe that in the coming days, our HVAC industry will work more meticulously and deliver many more products at much more competitive prices – and help the mankind to win over the novel corona virus.
