Danfoss making strides with advanced technology

Staying true to its promise, Danfoss India recently added to its cooling and refrigeration solutions portfolio by launching six new products in RefCold India 2019, held in Hyderabad. They are The Danfoss Intelligent Purging System (IPS), Danfoss Gas Detectors, Danfoss Plate Heat Exchanger, the EKE 400, the ICFD and the ICSH 2 Step Solenoid Valve. These products are set to change the standard for solution offerings in the refrigeration industry.
Business plan for 2020
With respect to the cooling and refrigeration segment, we expect to see significant strides in the business in 2020. Currently, the cooling and refrigeration segment has a 5-6 per cent penetration in India. With growing urbanisation and increasing needs for city – wide and home cooling and temperature control capabilities, there is tremendous scope for the industry to grow. The food, agriculture and dairy industries are inextricably linked with the cooling and refrigeration industry. In the context of increasing food insecurity and wastage in India, it has become more important than ever that there be a concerted effort made by all stakeholders towards improving cold storage and temperature-controlled food transportation facilities. The impact of global warming and climate change today has permeated every aspect of our existence. Every individual is concerned with doing their part to minimise their carbon footprint in the world. In such circumstances, the importance of energy efficient and sustainable solutions cannot be overemphasised. At Danfoss, we have transitioned to the use of natural, low GWP (global warming potential) and low ODP (ozone depletion potential) refrigerants such as hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) or hydrochlorofluorocarbons (HCFCs), thus making our solutions not only energy efficient, but also environmentally friendly. With the increasing emphasis on ‘Make in India’, the cooling and refrigeration segment is also likely to see a shift wherein all products manufactured in India will be made from materials that are made in India, consequently giving a boost to the industry.
From a technology standpoint, we are moving steadfastly on the digitisation path, setting the stage for Industry 4.0 and IoT, incorporating automation and efficiency at every level of operation. This is sure to permeate into every industry that Danfoss has a presence in.
