Embraco is a manufacturer of compressors for refrigeration systems. It was founded in 1971 to supply the Brazilian refrigeration industry which, until then, relied entirely on imported compressors. Embraco began production in 1974. It was in this same decade that it began to export to other markets in the Americas.

Embraco making strides with advanced technology
Embraco, which is now a part of Nidec Global Appliance, has a history of 49 years investing in innovation and technology, both in product development as well as in, more recently, digital transformation and Industry 4.0.

In terms of product, the company has a commitment in continuously delivering products, systems and technical services that exceed the market’s most challenging demands, anticipating future trends. That is why we were pioneers in fostering the early development of variable speed compressors and the use of natural refrigerants, two major trends in this industry. We are differentiated by a deep expertise in research and development, capable of delivering technology to generate innovation that anticipates future trends in the appliances segments. Aligned with the main market and global trends, the company’s strategies for the present and future of household and commercial refrigeration are defined based on the drivers of high levels of quality, competitiveness and energy efficiency, combined with low noise and reliability.

In the production process, we understand Industry 4.0 as strategic to ensure greater production quality and agility while reducing costs, preventing failures and helping the company make more assertive decisions. For this reason, in the last few years, we have begun the manufacturing digitisation journey, which allows for data generation for intelligent analysis, and has three of the main market systems encompassing the application of the vertical and horizontal integration concept – Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES); Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) optimisation; and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) – to ensure scalability and information sharing in a global operation. Additionally, the company has other applications within the Industry 4.0 concept, such as collaborative robots, vir tual reality, manufacturing simulation and 3D Printers.
