Considering the present global situation, it is evident that as soon as the economies are emerging out of the devastating impacts of one blow of COVI-19, the next one is appearing to cripple them again – as if it has been cyclic since March 2020. With this background, where all industries are affected by this dreadful pandemic, the HVAC-R industry can’t be an exception. However, for the HVAC-R industry, at least there is one blessing in disguise. Right at this moment, as many people are either being asked to or voluntarily preferring to work-from-home, wherever possible, the need for maintaining Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) has been increasing, and it’s happening in an unprecedented way.

For creating a comfortable indoor environment, (say) inside the home or office or any other enclosed space such as talkies or gymnasium or mall, not only fresh or contaminant-free air is enough – but also the temperature control is significantly important. It goes without saying that the pandemic has given a big boost to this demand. Thus, this trend will continue at least in the next few years.

As the present scenario is necessitating continuous monitoring of the indoor environment to keep it conducive to maintaining health & comfort, and reducing the energy consumption the HVAC-R machinery have to be interactive and they should be able to connect with other indoor equipment on real-time basis to balance the total electrical load. Therefore, IoT-based HVAC-R machinery will have a brighter prospect in the coming days.

The Net-Zero concept is still at its infancy as far as its implementation is concerned. However, in the post COP 26 era, it is expected that almost all countries will be careful to implement it. Thus, in order to make them more efficient or more aligned to the Net-Zero practices, there will be a big push in the HVAC-R replacement and retrofit equipment market.

So, I am sure that whatever be the impact of OMICRON or its successors (if any), the HVAC-R industry will grow in its own pace. In 2022, better the innovation more will be the market share.
