Indian HVAC-R industry has come of age, and now it is one of the best in the world. Our country’s dependence on this industry started growing from a few decades back, however, earlier to provide comfort or advantages inside the premises, it was worsening the climate outside. Also, as the polluted air was being drawn from outside, often the inner atmosphere too had to compromise its quality. However, in the recent past, some excellent technological developments have turned out to be big boons to this industry.

Today our ultra-modern AC control systems are all data-driven. Not only it is helping in controlling the indoor environments including all the parameters like temperature, humidity level and air flow – but also it is making the managers’ tasks easy by indicating requirements of servicing and/or replacement of parts and even their warranty & service providers’ details. One of the most important yet often neglected functions of good ventilation systems is ensuring designed number of ‘air changes’, now any good software relentlessly does that work.

From the pollution control angle: this year Voltas has launched India’s first AC with HEPA Filter technology. Now, Voltas’ PureAir 6-stage Adjustable Inverter AC comes with a unique value proposition of ‘Pure & Flexible Air Conditioning’, powered with HEPA Filter, PM 1.0 Sensor and AQI (Air Quality Index) Indicator (which is an industry first), that helps in purifying the indoor air – and is also loaded with 6-stage Adjustable Tonnage Mode, that allows the user to switch within multiple tonnages, depending on the ambient heat or number of people in the room. It provides pure and clean air, along with savings and optimization of running costs.

Also, Blue Star now offers a range of Smart ACs with WiFi connect and Voice Command Technology, which can be integrated with other smart devices such as Amazon Alexa and Google Home. There are other examples too. I think all these praiseworthy developments have pushed us much ahead, and will immensely help us in fulfilling our country’s climate commitments beside serving our industrial, commercial and residential sectors.
