Eurovent has become a member of the Cool Coalition, a global initiative led by the UN Environment Programme. It aims to promote access to efficient, climate-friendly cooling for industrialised and developing countries. The alliance among 100 partners aims at achieving better standards and regulation across the globe in support of the Coalition’s objectives. Members of the Cool Coalition collaborate on science, policy, finance, and technology to meet growing demands for sustainable cooling.

Felix Van Eyken, Secretary-General, Eurovent, said: “The demand for cooling and refrigeration will rise exponentially over the coming decades. We must ensure fair and equal access to it while concentrating on reducing its carbon footprint. As an industry association, Eurovent has long been involved in the development of better standards and regulations at the European level, strongly supporting energy efficiency measures and the transition to low-GWP refrigerants. It is our commitment to support a global approach to sustainable cooling, and we look forward to actively cooperate with other Cool Coalition members.”

Lily Riahi, Cool Coalition Coordinator, UNEP, said: “To put the cooling sector on a path to net-zero emissions, we need everyone on board. The Cool Coalition is thrilled to welcome Eurovent among its members. Together, we can transform the sector and put it on a path to decarbonisation, in line with global climate targets and sustainable development goals.”
